How do substitutes and waitlists work?

How to manage the sub list and waitlist for a league, including promoting waitlisted players and swapping in subs.

Leagues can optionally have a Sub List and a Wait List. These are enabled when creating a league or can be turned on in the league settings afterward.

Sub List

Substitutes are players who aren't on the regular roster but are available to fill in when a regular player can't attend a session. Subs don't count against your league's capacity.

Viewing subs

The Subs section appears on the League detail page when the sub list is enabled. It shows each sub's name and registration date, plus an export CSV option.

Actions for each sub

  • Swap In — Move a sub to the regular roster for a specific session. Use this when a regular player can't make it.
  • Remove — Remove the player from the sub list.

Wait List

When the league is at capacity, new applicants can join the waitlist. They're held in order of registration date.

Viewing the waitlist

The Wait List section appears on the League detail page when enabled. Players are shown in order, with their position and registration date.

Actions for each waitlisted player

  • Promote — Move the player to the regular roster. If the league is still at or over capacity, Omahji will warn you before proceeding.
  • Remove — Remove the player from the waitlist.
💡

When you remove a regular roster player, consider promoting the next person on the waitlist to fill their spot.
