After players register for a game and you've set up your table map, you can assign each player to a specific seat.
How to Assign Seats
- Open the game you want to assign seats for
- Open the Tables section
- You'll see your table layout with empty seats
- Drag and drop registered players into seats, or click a seat and select a player
- Repeat until all players are assigned
- Save your assignments
Auto-Assign Seats
If you'd rather not place everyone by hand, Omahji can seat your players for you automatically. Look for the auto-assign (AI seating) option in the seating view — it fills your table map for you and does its best to honor seat buddy requests. You can always review the results and drag players around afterward to fine-tune. Auto-assign is available on both the Solo and Club plans. For a full walkthrough, see Auto-Assigning Seats with AI.
Tips for Seating
- Check seat buddy requests before assigning — some players may have requested to sit together (see Understanding Seat Buddy Requests)
- Balance skill levels if you want to keep games competitive and fun
- Rotate seating between games so players get to play with different people
💡 Tip: You don't have to assign seats all at once. You can save a partial assignment and come back to finish it later.
When to Assign Seats
Most instructors assign seats a day or two before the game, once registrations have mostly settled. This avoids having to rearrange if someone registers or cancels last minute.
